
Puntland Deyr Seasonal Rainfall Outlook 2025
- The seasonal rainfall outlook for Puntland from October to December 2025, issued by IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) during the 71st Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum (GHACOF71), indicates a higher likelihood of below-normal rainfall across the regions of Puntland.
- The districts of Qardho, Dhahar, and dangorayo have a 40% chance of receiving normal rainfall.
- In contrast, Garowe, Eyl, Carmo, Badhan, Laasqoray, and Ceerigaabo have an equal chance of receiving either normal or below-normal rainfall.
- However, there is about a 50% probability of La Niña, a climate phenomenon typically associated with drier conditions in parts of Eastern Africa between October and December.
- Furthermore, the Temperature prediction indicates a high likelihood of warmer-than-normal conditions across Puntland, with the maximum possibility of exceeding 65%.
- As OND marks important rainfall period in Puntland all Stakeholders are encouraged to take anticipatory action for the upcoming Deyr season, which is expected to be below-average rainfall and warmer-than-normal temperatures.
