Puntland Weekly Rainfall Forecast 27 April-03 may
- The Gu’ rainfall forecast season commenced last week in Puntland with light to moderate showers ranging from (20-40 mm) in localized areas of Buuhoodle, Galdogob, Burtinle, Xudun, and Garowe districts.
- Although the received rainfall was below the normal with poor spatial coverage, it relieved the drought impacts by improving the water availability and the pasture conditions in those districts.
- Meanwhile, the drought impacts could still be visible in the other regions of Puntland unless there are adequate rains with good spatial and temporal coverage.
- According to the weekly rainfall forecast, the regions of Bari, Gardafu, Karkaar, Hayland, Sanaag, Sool, Cayn, and Mudug are expected to receive moderate rainfall ranging from (30-50 mm).
- While Qardho and Dhahar Districts are expected to receive an amount of (100-150 mm) of rainfall and it may cause flash floods. The communities in these districts should take all the necessary precautions during the forecasted period.
- Nugaal region and a few of the coastal districts are expected to receive light rains below (20 mm).
- Map 1 & 2 indicates three to seven days of accumulative rainfall forecast respectively.
Users are advised that this is a forecast and at times there may be discrepancies between estimates and actual amounts of rainfall received. During the rainy season, IMC will produce updated forecasts on a weekly basis.
